Love in the Time of Corona - a chapter by Typhoid Mary
Juuust kidding. I'm not Typhoid Mary.

I did, however, listen to 2 podcast episodes about her. Fascinating story, pretty sad.
It's been just a minute, hasn't it?
What? We've been home for a month? Time sure flies when you're quarantining.
So, updates. Hmmm. Well, that whole "watch me own 2020 with these resolutions" has basically been binned; though I have managed to restructure the list a little bit.
So, instead of going on about how things are, being at home, whining about how "hard this is", I'm going to be self indulgent (my blog, my rules), and describe how my original 2020 resolution list has...evolved.
Let's revisit the original list, m'kay?
- I will wear a crop top. I have!
- I will work out in a sports bra and leggings. At the gym. And by "gym", I mean home workouts. Yes, I did.
- I will learn to bead, and I will learn to make Moccasins and Mukluks. Maybe I'll make some earrings - Done!
- I will become more confident in my role at work. I will be the most supportive leader I can be for my team. Well, I can honestly say that this experience is teaching me to lead as strongly as I can...remotely.
- Along these lines, I will learn as much as I can about Indigenous traditions boiling cedar cleans the air. Cedar tea is wonderful for immunity.
- I will continue to advocate for things I believe in. Sweet Lucifer, have I ever become a shit disturbing loudmouth. I yell at everyone. It's fun.
- I will commit to having beautiful hands. I had to separate from my gels, as my darling Alaina is also closed in the quarantine...so I've been taking care of my own hands. My nails are short - growing out from the gels - but they're being babied as much as possible. Lots of cuticle oil. Lots of lotion. So much hand washing...
- I will get one pedicure a season. Yeah...so I got the one...and I've just gone with it at home. I had painted my own toenails, and that was fine - but they started getting a bit long, so I cleaned them off and cut them down. Long toenails give me the heebie geebies!!
- I will do my best to only say nice things about myself. Wow. Nope. This bombed hard sometime in February, and dragged my ass over the coals through March. This week though...this week has been better. I'm nicer to myself. I've given myself a break. I take baths and practice semi-consistent skincare. My clothes still fit, and I look hot in fishnets.
- I will wear a swimsuit, come summer. Fuck it. I'll wear one much sooner, since I'm spending summer at home,
- I will save as many pennies as I can, so that when we go to Europe...or not. No flights out of the country. No out of province travel. I'm okay with that.
- I will own my self worth. This is improving! I'm definitely recognizing my commodity-ness.
- I will continue to develop my spiritual path. There will be Satanism. Oh, I've been working on this too! I've been reading lots of tarot, really leaning into my intuition (and seeing it come through), and I Hail Satan on the daily.
Alright! Yeah, quite the list. Some progress made, and some of these points, I'm going to continue working on. Over the last 4 weeks at home, I've exercised a handful of times, I've eaten a metric ton, and I've gained about 10 pounds. I'm currently on my period though...so that might only be 5 pounds...
In any event, this week has been more energizing (not sure why, depressive cycles just work in funny ways). And so, this week, I have started to set down new goals.
There are things from my original list that I will continue with. Reinforcing self talk. Saving money. Building my self worth. Speaking my voice about things I feel passionately about. Diving deeper into my occult practice.
I've had to shift my perspective on a few things (I do miss the gym like mad), and I'm learning to give myself a break, because everything and everyone is having to adapt. Here, then, is my fresh "to-do" list...for the quarentimes.
- I will shower at least every other day; and shave my legs on Fridays!
- I will eat healthy, balanced meals (and snacks)
- I will engage in some form of exercise each day. Any movement is better than no movement.
- I will complete the 5 online courses I've registered for
- I will not beat myself up over not having enough spoons, everyday.
- I will take oodles of sex and body positive selfies! I seem to be the only one who thinks I'm not attractive :/
- I'll make an effort to "dress up with nowhere to go" like, once every week or two. It gets much too easy to live in leggings. I don't remember the last time I wore jeans.
That's about it...I'm grinding my gears, thinking of better and more entertaining topics to post about. If you're reading this, I invite you to provide any suggestions!
